Mining Truck & Vehicle Storage

Sheltirx™ mining truck storage buildings provide covered space for haul trucks, service vehicles, utility vehicles and other mobile mining equipment. We configure each building around fleet dimensions, parking arrangements, vehicle access, site conditions and operational requirements.

Covered Storage
for Mining Fleets

Mining operations depend on vehicles that must remain accessible throughout changing shifts, weather conditions and production schedules. When vehicles are left in open areas, operators must account for site exposure, access conditions and the space needed to keep the fleet organized.

A dedicated mining truck storage building can provide a defined parking area for vehicles that are not in active use. It can also help separate fleet parking from material storage, maintenance activities and general site traffic.

The storage requirement varies by vehicle type. Haul trucks, service trucks, light-duty vehicles, buses and mobile support equipment do not occupy the same amount of space or follow identical movement patterns. Start by identifying which assets belong in the building and how frequently each vehicle needs to enter or leave.

Size the Building
Around Vehicle Dimensions

Mining truck storage buildings should be planned around actual vehicle dimensions rather than a simple vehicle count. Record the length, width and height of each vehicle type, including relevant attachments, mirrors and other projecting components.

Allow space for vehicle entry, turning, parking alignment and exit. The required clearance depends on vehicle geometry, access arrangements and the movement method used inside the building.

Door openings and internal clearances need particular attention. Tall vehicles, elevated equipment and vehicles with special configurations may require different access provisions. Where multiple vehicle types share the same facility, assess the largest relevant vehicle and the operating requirements of the entire fleet.

Organize Fleet
Parking and Retrieval

A useful parking layout allows vehicles to move without repeatedly relocating other units. Parking positions should reflect the expected frequency of use, vehicle size and operational priority.

Vehicles required at the beginning of a shift may need convenient access. Reserve areas can accommodate vehicles temporarily out of rotation, provided they do not obstruct regular movements or emergency access.

Assess whether the fleet can use a shared entry and exit or whether separate openings would support the traffic pattern more effectively. Vehicle routes, pedestrian access and designated safety areas should be planned together.

Consider Fleet Safety
and Storage Conditions

Covered space can reduce direct exposure to rain, snow, sunlight and wind. However, vehicle storage requires more than a roof and parking area.

Assess ventilation, lighting, drainage, ground conditions and access control. Vehicles returning with mud, snow or water may affect floor conditions and drainage requirements. Exhaust management is particularly important if engines may operate inside or near enclosed areas.

Fuel, batteries, lubricants and other materials associated with the fleet should be assessed separately. Vehicle parking should not automatically be treated as suitable for servicing, hot work, fuel storage or other activities requiring additional controls.

Configure Mining Truck
Storage for Your Site

Sheltirx™ fabric building configurations can be planned around fleet dimensions, access openings, usable clearances and site requirements. Clear-span interiors can provide open parking arrangements without internal support columns occupying the parking floor.

Our structures use hot-dip galvanized steel framing and can be engineered around applicable wind and snow loads, foundations, anchoring and local building requirements. Building height, opening locations and usable floor space should be determined from the fleet and site layout.

Review ground preparation, drainage, delivery access and installation requirements before finalizing the building configuration.

Frequently Asked Questions

What vehicles can mining truck storage buildings accommodate?

They can be planned for haul trucks, service vehicles, utility vehicles, buses and other mobile mining assets, subject to building dimensions and access requirements.

How is the required storage capacity determined?

Vehicle count, individual dimensions, parking layout, turning space, clearances and access routes determine the usable capacity.

Can a mining truck storage building have drive-through access?

Drive-through arrangements may be possible depending on the building configuration, openings, site layout and vehicle movement requirements.

Can vehicles be serviced inside the storage building?

Storage and maintenance are different applications. Servicing requires separate assessment of ventilation, floor conditions, utilities, safety controls and the work being performed.

What site conditions should be reviewed?

Ground conditions, drainage, wind and snow loads, access for deliveries, foundations and applicable local requirements should be evaluated.

What information is required for a quote?

Provide vehicle types, dimensions, fleet count, access preferences, site location and any special storage or operating requirements.
